About me
I was a full professor at the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Periodontology, LMU University Hospital, LMU Munich, Germany.
My research focused on dental tribology (wear of restorative materials made of composite or ceramic), adhesion of dental adhesive materials and polymerization shrinkage of composites. Other topics included optical methods of early caries diagnosis (scattering, fluorescence) and selective caries excavation.
For many of these topics it was necessary to develop new testing methods. Due to my profound knowledge in mechanical design with CAD, manufacturing with CAM and programming with Java and C++, I have always had an excellent cooperation with numerous research and development departments of most major players in dental industry, as this knowledge allowed me to understand, appreciate and value the performance of my partners!
As a consultant and continuing education teacher, I stand out for my ability to translate complex topics and challenges into clear, actionable insights for manufacturers and dental professionals alike.
I have been in partial retirement since June 2024 and can now focus on my research interests without the bureaucratic burden.
